About this Painting:
Ref: @fleurelity
Sometimes it is really fun to go directly from an idea in my head straight into paint. But the longer I paint the more I realize there are pros and cons to that. The pro is I get to the painting quicker. And if I don't have much time for painting on a given day, maybe that's the route I want to take.
The con though is that often I'm having to solve more problems that I can really handle. Which can make the painting process itself less fun. By slowing down and getting the drawing onto the canvas, I'm giving myself a chance to play more within the painting...once I get to it. Slowing down and being patient means more fun later.
That was counterintuitive to me for a long time. Some days I can still feel the "Oh come on let's get to the painting part" still push back in my brain. But now I have enough experience to gently push back. To remind myself that I'm actually in no rush. (You can see my planning in the photos.)
