The fantastic collage artist, Jacqueline Sullivan, said when we were filming her DVD, Textures, Layers, and Metallics, use the colors you're most comfortable with, and you can generally figure that out by looking at what you're wearing. I paint in a giant teal hoody, but normally I'm in black. Lots and lots (lots) of black. So this painting is a bit of a breakthrough for me from a color standpoint. This is one of the pluses of painting every day: You fear pushing it less. Because the worst that happens is that tomorrow you are back in the studio.
